About Our Club
The University (Figure) Skating Club was founded in 1922
by members of the University of Toronto. Our home ice is the warm and
near Olympic-sized Varsity Arena, centrally located in downtown
Toronto. We are an adult-oriented club with a tradition in ice dancing.
However, we do welcome freeskating on two of our sessions. We cater to
all levels of ability.
Whether you are new to the sport or returning to it, our
club will appeal to you. Our relaxed and friendly atmosphere makes
everyone feel welcome. For those who are more serious about figure
skating, private lessons are available from our excellent coaching staff. Many of our skaters follow the
StarSkate test stream and are working on attaining Preliminary to
Diamond level in free skate, dance, interpretive and skating skills.
For up-to-the-minute information on
test days, cancellations, competitions, shows and any other news of
interest to USC members, please keep checking the Events
page. For information about
our open, in-house competition, please check the Max Gould page. All of our
attachments open in the same window. Just click on the "Back" button to

- Treat other members as you
would like to be treated - with courtesy and respect. Be aware of what
is going on around you on the ice. Do your best to share the ice and
ensure the safety and well-being of all skaters.
- Skaters in private lessons have
the right of way during all sessions, except during program dance.
Skaters should also be aware when solo programs and dances are being
played. Spins should be practiced in the centre of the ice.
- Skaters should keep moving on
the ice. If talking or socializing, skaters should move off the ice or
to the boards.
- Skaters must not consume food
or drinks, or chew gum on the ice. However, water is acceptable.
- Skaters must wear appropriate
clothing on the ice. Jeans are not permitted.
- Headphones and personal
audio players are not permitted on the ice.
- Personal items left by the ice
surface or in the dressing rooms after sessions will be placed in the
Lost and Found box in the office. Items not claimed by the end of the
season may be disposed of or donated to charity.
- The Club is not responsible for
any valuables left in the dressing rooms.
- Vandalizing the property of the
University Skating Club, Varsity Arena or the University of Toronto or
